Wednesday was a wild day. We nearly finished all the lunations today. What's a lunation? It's one of those crescents that line the border of a Chartres Labyrinth.

There are 112 lunations separated by 113 teeth.
We use a pretty fancy setup to cut the lunations. Chuck and Kathy work the "Lunar Lander" here. Fortunately, it cuts the circles very consistantly. Unfortunately, it is one of the most persnickity tools that we have. It is difficult to adjust and harder to align to the lunations. Imagine how we get 112 crescents to array themselves around the circumference of the labyrinth with less than an 1/8th inch of variation. Usually with many comments made under our breath, superb focus, and immense dedication to finishing the job.

Bruce Smale climbed the Tower today and shot this picture of us

Here I am, fat and happy at the Smale's. John snapped a picture of me building tonight's page. It's suddenly got late and I've got to be up early tomorrow to finish the cutting and get ready to color your labyrinth!
