This is the view of the labyrinth from the top of the bell tower. Robert is in the dark shirt and Don Mills is to the right. The last time I had a vantage point like this was in Santa Barbara.

Blue tape below them marks where we need to make cuts to mark the entrance to the labyrinth. We hope that having the entrance facing the gate will be very inviting. We lay out our dimensions on a special type of tape. Then we set up our saw and cut the design directly into the concrete. There is little room for error so we have to do it right the first time. Should you find an area of our art where there appears to be an 'error', just consider it as something we did so that you know for sure that this labyrinth was made by humans, for humans. It's proof that we did this art by hand.
This variation will have thicker areas between the path turns. These turns are called 'labrys' and they will become obvious when we color the labyrinth. They are nice areas to step aside and let other walkers go by. The also make the turns more visible.
Monday was a very productive day.We cut all the major circles and got a good start on the labrys' and lunations. Tuesday looks like it will be a day for rest while the rain washes away all that is no longer needed.
It's really great that there will be benches around the pattern. I sometimes feel like I'm getting as much benefit watching others walk the labyrinth as I might get by walking it myself.
The view from inside the tower. This ladder is 20 or 30 feet of free span. What I mean by free span is that once you are half way up, the ladder flexes back and forth...a lot. It's almost as thrilling as going from the ladder out onto the top of the tower!
This is one of the best places possible for getting good images of a labyrinth. Good fore thought on the part of the original architects!
