Robert's talk went well. Seventy three enthusiastic Labyrinthians attended. Thank you all for your support - emotional, mental, physical, and financial!
Phil Doolittle, Vice President of the University of Redlands thanked all those involved in the labyrinth project.
Pat Vieten, whose will power made this project happen, introduced Robert. He's been very kind to us. We're looking forward to enjoying the Choir practice on Sunday evening!
The coloring just goes on and on.... It seems like it will never be accomplished until we step back at the end of the day and see that progress is being made, poco a poco.
We have to mix small batchs of the color. It has cement in it and sets up (gets hard) after about 30 minutes in the little buckets. We mix another batch after about 20 minutes of 'painting' so that we'll be able to keep going with the new batch.
So it's like that. Mix a batch, paint. Start mixing another batch before the old one gets too thick, paint. Mix another one, paint. We'll keep up this routine for the next 4 days and then seal everything on the 5th or 6th day. I expect that we'll have made around 30 batches of color by the time we're done.
He's a skillful painter of portable labyrinths. He's made over 70 labyrinths himself.
It all hinges on Dan's skill as a mixer now. He's the one who will keep our color consistant. It's amazing how much variation can creep into the color of a labyrinth if the water, cement, and color are not kept really, really consistant. Dan is one of the most steady guys I've worked with on labyrinths. We're lucky to have him here today!
