It's Friday, August 11th. It is wet and rainy. Our work stops because the tape on which we place our measurements won't stick to the concrete. The saws are not waterproof, so even if the tape was sticking, we could not cut a line.

The rain seems like it might be letting up. We decide that maybe we can blow dry the labyrinth with a leaf blower. The rest of us do what every stymied labyrinth crew does when it rains - We go shopping!
We visited Lowe's, Home Depot, and Big Lots collecting supplies for our coloring steps.

Tape does not stick to wet concrete. The tape is a special cloth tape, made to stick to everything but not leave adhesive behind when the tape is removed. As it drys, it shrinks. All the dimensions that we laid out on Thursday are ruined. By the time we begin to cut, we will have measured and laid out the labyrinth's dimensions 5 times.
Each time it rains, it ruins our prior measurements. The next image shows one of the axes of the labyrinth. The long strip of tape in the center shows us the center of that axis. The smaller bits of tape, in clusters of three, show us where to start and stop cutting. We usually check our measurements 3 times. Remember, we are cutting in stone, so there's no going back and doing it over.

We pealed up the old tape one last time as it began to rain again. Peter's work at drying all morning became an exercise in meditation. We gave up and went to lunch.
When we returned around 3 pm, the slab was not too wet. A borrowed leaf blower from Bright School Maintenance allowed two of us to dry just the outermost line of the labyrinth. We were working against time. More rain clouds were on the way. Maybe we could cut just one line before the approaching rain squall got us.

The above image shows us cutting the outermost line of the labyrinth. David Mathewson arrived at just the right moment to take some pictures. The rain stopped and we were able to keep cutting until 8:30 pm, finishing all the large radius circles in the pattern.
Pamela and Peter both learned to run the saw:
