After you've decided on the dimensions( See Robert Ferre's
St. Louis Labyrinth Project site
for the best description of figuring your dimensions, remember to bookmark
this site so you can get back easily) of your labyrintth, go to the site
and consult with The Place. Making a labyrinth is a cocreative act. The
forces of Nature need to be consulted to find out how and precisely where
the circle can abe drawn for the greatest beneficial effect.
Then start with a pivot at the center of where the labyrinth needs
to be. I cut a 2 foot section off an electrician's 8 foot grounding stake. I
tightened a grounding clamp a few inches above ground. I slipped another
grounding clamp on top of the first. I attached the chain to the second
grounding clamp. I didn't tighten the second grounding clamp so that the
chain would spin freely on the stake. All this heavy weight metal stuff
allows you to pull hard on the trowel and
work quickly to precisely form the labyrinth. I'm not showing the pictures
of the wimpy brass rods I used to make my very first labyrinth with. They
were pretty bent up by the time I was done. You need strong foundations
to do the work easily.
I
left the gap in the circles because I knew that this was where the entrance
to the labyrinth would be. The trowel in the left foreground is about 5
feet long. This labyrinth is approximately 44 feet in diameter.
